Cause Description:
In December 2008, Dr. mutindi ndunda of the College of Charlestons School of Education will be leading a group of students and faculty on a life-changing and world-changing adventure: 10 days in Kenya working in orphanages for children whose lives have been affected by the AIDS epidemic. Leaving Charleston on December 13 and returning on December 22, the group will split its time between an orphanage in Kenya called Nyumbani and an orphanage in the village of Kitui run by Mbitini Ministries. As Nelson Mandela has said, AIDS is no longer just a disease, it is a human rights issue. This is our chance to stand alongside the people in Kenya and across the African continent in the name of human rights. In Kenya, the word Harambee (Lets pull together) is used to rally a community around a common goal. If we pull together to make this trip to Kenya a reality, we can make a small but profound different in the world and in the lives of orphaned children in Kenya. We cant do it without you. Harambee!
