Rescuing Jewish communities in distress to safe haven in Israel is the primary task of the Jewish Agency. The Jewish Agency for Israel is a voluntary, national institution with philanthropic sources of income, representing World Jewry in Israel. The Jewish Agency accomplishes its mission through a partnership in the U.S. with the UIA, Inc., in 47 other countries with the Keren Hayesod-UIA and with the World Zionist Organization Established in 1929, the Jewish Agency operates under a special covenant with the Government of Israel. According to the Covenant with the Government of Israel, the Jewish Agency is charged with facilitating the immigration to Israel of Jewish communities. Rescuing Jewish communities in distress to safe haven in Israel is the primary task of the Jewish Agency.
