Every 7 minutes, another person in the United States becomes blind or visually impaired, making the American Foundation for the Blind — the organization to which Helen Keller devoted 44 years of her life — more important today than ever. Since 1921, AFB has been eliminating barriers that prevent blind or visually impaired people from reaching their potential by addressing the most critical issues of independent living, literacy, employment, and technology. Headquartered in New York City with offices in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, and San Francisco, and a governmental relations office in Washington, DC, AFB continues to be committed to equality for the ten million Americans who are blind or visually impaired.
