Cause Description:
The North Jersey Community Research Initiative (NJCRI) is a community based not-for-profit founded in 1988 to respond to the needs of HIV infected and affected residents of northern New Jersey. NJCRI quickly became a leader in HIV/AIDS clinical research and HIV specific psychosocial support services. NJCRI conducts clinical trials with the goal to develop better HIV treatments and make promising investigational medicines available. Clinical trials are now available throughtout New Jersey. NJCRI's Community Support Center makes a difference in the lives of HIV infected and affected persons by offering: HIV testing, counseling, substance abuse treatment, treatment adherence counseling, nutrition counseling and HIV support groups. NJCRI provides coordination of services, transportation and prescription assistance. These services are primarily available to residents of Essex County, but noone is denied services.
