Cause Description:
At the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade, we know that every 2 minutes, someone is diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. And this year alone, more than 230,000 women and 2,100 men will hear the words, “you have breast cancer.” Everything we do is motivated by our vision to improve breast cancer outcomes and reduce disparities in survival rates across the country, specifically for vulnerable populations and those in areas of high-need. Our grantmaking strategy reflects our commitment to increasing access to screening, diagnostics, treatment and support services for patients from medically underserved populations. We believe in health equity and that all individuals should have timely access to affordable, high-quality breast health care when they need it. In 2016, the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade (ABCC) awarded a total of 64 grants – ranging from $50,000 to $2.75 million – to leading cancer centers, research institutions and community-based organizations, including those in regions where the AVON 39 walk series takes place.
