QSAC, is a non-profit, community-based organization which provides behavioral, educational, case management, and support services for persons with autism and their families throughout New York City. QSAC was founded in 1978 by local parents concerned by the lack of services available for their autistic children. Their belief that many people with autism were capable of living at home, forming relationships, and becoming productive members of their community remains the guiding philosophy of QSAC. Today, QSAC serves over 500 families, helping both children and adults with autism lead more independent, productive, and fulfilled lives in the least restrictive of environments. Current programs and services include: After School Program; Adult Day Habilitation; In-Home and Weekend Respite; Residential Habilitation; Special Education Itinerant Teacher Program (SEIT); Parent Support Groups; Parent Training; a Pre-school Program and Individualized Residential Alternatives (IRA).
