Cause Description:
RWC centers on making racer personalized Quick Tips on Winning in Life--Life skills presentations to children and teens. We are currently working with Gila River Indian Community Juvenile Detention Center, Boys and Girls Clubs, Ronald McDonald House, Ryan's House, Children's Hospitals and Stand Up for Kids (homeless shelter for youth ages 13-24) to provide positve role models. RWC racers are the mentors. They share stories from their own personal experiences encountered in the "School of Hard Knocks" on the "Road to the Winners Circle". We provide valuable life skill tools centering on finding something you love to do in life, importance of study, learning the art of teamwork, find a mentor, explore your talents and creativity, take the long view, tap into your inner strength, be flexible and avoid the path of least resistance. Many of the youth we reach are kids who are pushed aside and written off in life. RWC Quick Tips fill the void of what kids learn in their general education and what they need to know as they approach the realm of adulthood. We focus on establishing working relationships, developing coping skills, locating mentors and other key practicalities. The key audience is at risk youth and kids who would benefit from positive role models in their life. RWC racers' presentations benefit kids of all culteral backgrounds and life experiences. We want to assure kids that they do, in fact, matter. They can succeed. They can set and reach goals and create successful lives for themselves. They can be winners in their lives! That is why all of us at Racers Who Care, including the racers, donate their time and out of pocket expenses to this outreach for over twenty-one years. As a non-profit 501(c) organization, our budget mostly derives from contributions, fundraising and volunteer help.
