Since 1975, Arlington Thrive, Inc. formerly known as Arlingtonians Meeting Emergency Needs, Inc. is a front-line defense against homelessness and was once again voted one of Washington DC’s best small charities by the Catalogue for Philanthropy, Greater Washington. Our mission is to provide emergency financial assistance to Arlington residents who are in a financial crisis and by doing so, prevent more serious consequences such as eviction leading to homelessness or job loss due to untreated illness. Arlington Thrive’s programs assist residents with payment of their rent, utilities, medical or dental bills, prescriptions costs, transportation needs or other related emergencies. Checks are made out directly to the creditor, e.g. landlord, medical provider, or utility. Arlington Thrive provides this service in the most efficient manner by collaborating with local social service organizations. Volunteers take requests from social service caseworkers on behalf of their clients. Arlington Thrive is the only organization in Arlington that provides same-day emergency financial assistance.
