Mountain Phoenix Community School is one of a small but growing number of Charter schools that bring the wonder and splendor of Waldorf Education to the public school sector! Waldorf Education is, I believe, a cure for our kids and our badly needed education/school reform. Watch the two videos; the first is about Waldorf education, the second is about the Mountain Phoenix Community School! The one about Waldorf Education is produced by a group of executives in the Silicone Valley is eye opening. The second video showing Waldorf education, specialized Waldorf environments and some of the methodology in action in a charter public school is absolutely beautiful. If you have children or grandchildren. Watching these videos and checking out our site is worth your time and interest, even if you don't have a school yet wherever you live. Supporting this school, which will be opening a new campus soon, strengthens the growth of Waldorf Education in the Public sector! Below the videos is a brief mission statement of Phoenix Mountain Community School. Our mission is to provide an arts-based, developmentally appropriate education that nurtures the whole child: Head, Heart and Hand. We are a Jefferson County public charter school offering an educational program inspired by the methods of Waldorf education to K-8 students. Our curriculum is comprehensive in scope and artistic in nature. Its academic components are aligned to state standards and framed within an artistic, creative and imaginative context. Mountain Phoenix Community School is dedicated to preparing students for life through a curriculum rich in background knowledge, development of the imagination that will lead to higher level thinking, active learning and meaningful, integrated projects and experiential approaches, and mastery of skills in alignment with core standards.
