Inspired by the belief that transformation can occur in every individual that comes to the agency for assistance, Jericho Project steadfastly works to advance its mission to end homelessness at its roots by creating a community that inspires individual change, fosters sustainable independence, and motivates men and women to reach their greatest potential. Jericho Project will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2013, an important milestone for an organization that was started in 1983 by three churches that took up the call to help New York City address its burgeoning homeless crisis that was deeply exacerbated by the citywide crack cocaine epidemic. Three decades later, with the homeless population at a record high and poverty striking at the heart of a growing number of New York City residents, Jericho Project’s commitment to innovation has enable it to continue to answer the call to help New Yorkers in crisis. Jericho now provides housing, employment and other critical support services to more than 750 adults and children in five service clusters: Supportive Housing, Workforce Opportunities, Family Programs, Veterans Initiative, and Homelessness Prevention and Housing Placement.
