Cause Description:
Spotlight Players is a community theater with the following goal: to entertain, educate, and enrich. We provide entertaining theater to local audiences, enhancing our area's cultural appeal with shows that are moving, thought-provoking, and just plain fun. Through the day-to-day process of running our organization, we provide our members with a hands-on learning experience in all aspects of theater--from the artistic and technical challenges of acting, directing, lighting, set construction, and so forth, to the practical considerations of advertising, publicity, budgeting, and the other elements of managing a small business. In doing so, we enrich the lives of those who see our shows and those who work on them. We aim to be a community theater in the broadest sense of the phrase, allowing and encouraging members of the comunity to grow, develop, and take risks artistically. Thus, in addition to producing well-known, large-draw shows, we hope to present productions that are of interest to other segments of the community: children's shows, original plays by local playwrights,theater classics, and musical revues.
