Cause Description:
Our mission: To give a voice to our canine and feline friends by bringing awareness to the community about responsible pet ownership. We believe that effective change comes one heart at a time and that firging strong bonds between our furry friends and their human companions is an essential means to effect that change! We will engage with our entire community by: Creating, organizing and conducting community awareness and outreach programs in schools and libraries to promote awareness of responsible pet ownership, create awareness of animal cruelty, encourage pro-active community watch programs and participation; Creating a network of informed, prepared, and qualified foster homes for abandoned and unwanted animals (cats, dogs and rabbits) Raising funds and hold wellness clinics which will include basic health checks and interactive learning activities for youth and adults, basic grooming and health care clinics Raising funds to promote awareness regarding spaying and neutering of household pets Developing relationships with public and private schools and create a network of volunteers to provide informative and engaging sessions regarding proper animal care Partnering with local veterinarians, law enforcement officials, animal control agencies and officers, public and rivate schools, community colleges, universities and other animal professionals and institutions to develop practical and comprehensive methods to promote educational programs and community awareness and prevention of animal cruelty; Developing corporate partnership programs to promote animal-friendly products and services, Communicating with federal and state legislators to consider animal-friendly legislation and bills.  Draft animal welfare legislation initiatives and proposals for legislators to consider during their sessions. Creating and operating a community watch program to create awareness of ongoing animal neglect and abuse and encourage citizens to report suspected abuse to the proper authorities; Developing partnerships and establish working relationships with local and federal agencies that promote and enforce the prevention of animal cruelty Assisting the community in developing and implementing a disaster plan for animals affected by natural disasters by collecting donations to provide supplies; coordinate volunteer efforts; deploy rescue teams to recover abandoned pets; provide temporary shelter to displaced animals; and reunite pets with their owners. Working primarily with companion animal issues, such as proper pet care, ownership responsibilities, education regarding responsible pet owmership and awareness programs for youth and adults alike, therapy dog program awareness, create and coordinate the promotion the prevention of animal cruelty and neglect. Assisting the community by developing a shelter awareness and support program to promote best practices within local shelters; Holding various events and programs to encourage potential pet owners to adopt one of the countless unwanted animals   Holding community “celebration” and appreciation events to recognize responsible pet owners; Creating and maintaining a network of animal foster homes for recovered homeless animals to prevent them from entering the shelter environment to ensure a more effective and successful permanent placement in a permanent homes Creating and maintaining an informational support system for families traveling with pets to enhance awareness of current laws and requirements for the shipment and transportation of pets to overseas locations; And setting long term goals to include but not limited to: (as funding becomes available) Creating a network of foster families for Military families who are called on emergency leave, TDY or PCS orders and identifying those with special financial needs and circumstances and raise funds needed to assist with the arrangement and/or transportation of their family pets to the requested destination.
