Conserve and protect sensitive environmental properties that fall within the Longleaf pine ecosystem and is identified as a priority area for preservation through scientific data provided by the National Heritage Program, Land Trust River Corridor Protection Plan, NC DENR and Ecosystem Enhancement Program, and the NC Wildlife Commission. Priority is given to lands that have the potential to become part of a park or greenway system, preserves or buffers natural areas containing plant and animal species of special concern, water resources and wetlands, mitigation corridors and valuable natural habitat.
