Into the Light Equine Rescue Sanctuary is a 509(a)(1) non-profit organization committed to a safe and dignified quality of life for horses that are no longer useful to their current owners, were bound for slaughter, or victims of abuse and neglect. Our ultimate mission is to improve the quality of life for these animals in such a manner that they, as one of God's creatures, will be able to give what comes naturally to it -- love, companionship, understanding and compassion. Our Ohio facility's main focus is rescuing horses who are bound for slaughter. Most of the horses that arrive at this facility come from Sugarcreek Auction. We do not focus on rescuing a certain breed, age, or color. All horses that arrive at our facility will receive proper care, rehabilitation, retraining, and will be rehomed. Any horse that is not adoptable will live out the remainder of it's life with us.
