Cause Description:
Our Youth is a non profit organization designed to help GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender) youth ranging from the ages of 13– 18. Our Youth provides a vary of different service to the young adults within the NY / NJ area. We provided job placement, college assessment, health referrals, as well as a safe haven for ALL youth regardless of sexual preference. We have a variety of activity's through out the week, a place the youth can come instead of being on the streets. Activity's include a yoga night, book night, a movie night, a game night, and a family night. At our weekly family night we invite friends and family of the youth to visit the Our Youth Center and we provide a guest speaker. A guest speaker that interacts with the youth on many different issues. Also on family night the president and founder of Our Youth’s grandmother attends and provides a home cooked meal for all in attendance. Besides providing services within the Our Youth Center, the board of directors attend different high schools, colleges, and other youth organizations delivering motivational speeches as well as workshops. Motivational speeches and workshops dealing with issues of HIV / AIDS, homophobia, and acceptance just to name a few.
