Cause Description:
The Art Connection in the Capital Region (ACCR) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization formed in 2004 to expand access to visual art within underserved communities in the greater metropolitan area of Washington DC, Baltimore and Northern Virginia. ACCR’s mission is fulfilled through an innovative art donation and placement program that places original works of art donated by artists and collectors within partnering nonprofit organizations so that the individuals served by these agencies can benefit from the transformative and healing effects of art in their lives. An example of the nonprofits with which ACCR partners include: shelters for battered women and their children, shelters for the homeless, substance abuse centers, agencies offering services for the disabled or mentally challenged, low-income senior housing, amongst several others.
