Cause Description:
Saint Clare's Adolescent IOP counsels a group of 15 teenagers who face a great deal of hardships in their lives including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, self-mutilation, and self-esteem problems. On a daily basis, the kids express themselves through ways such as art, music, poetry, drama, and other creative means of expression. Also, a large part of our program involves building up the kids’ self-esteem. We do this by providing motivational incentives for thriving in the program and meeting certain behavioral criteria. We also frequently hold small contests that give the kids an opportunity to display their individuality in a healthy way, free of any judgment. This may be in the form of a talent show or game show-like event. We conduct these events several times throughout the year.
