Cause Description:
Phi Mu's founders felt so strongly about philanthropic activities that the first line in the Phi Mu Creed reads, "To lend to those less fortunate a helping hand." These words are not just clever prose, they are a guiding principle for Phi Mus everywhere. The tradition is carried on today in many chapter activities. Phi Mu is the only sorority to be a corporate sponsor of Children's Miracle Network. Supporting 170 Children's Miracle Network hospitals nationwide, Phi Mu has raised over $7 million since 1986, improving the quality of life for children everywhere. The Gamma Mu chapter of Phi Mu works especially hard to raise money for this philanthropy. The Gamma Mu Chapter is located in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina, at Western Carolina University. Along with raising money for CMN, we also are advocates for Breast Cancer Awareness. Gamma Mu has won many awards in the list five years, including: Chapter of the Year and Philanthropy of the Year.
