Cause Description:
Helimission (HM) is a missionary aviation society operating helicopters in the worlds most remote and isolated regions, bringing relief aid, transportation needs, and medical help to those who need it most. Operations are paid for solely through donations. HM has no mission program of its own, is a non-denominational protestant mission giving help regardless of race or religion and in cooperation with many churches, missions, and relief agencies. Currently(04/24/99) HM operates 9 helicopters in Ethiopia, Cameroon, Kenya, Madagascar, Zaire(former), and Irian Jaya and has recently been providing aid to Hurrican Mitch victims in Honduras. Each pilot/mechanic is paid through support they receive from family, friends, and local churches. Only a handful of office personnel are on salary. Donations are applied directly to operations in the field, directly benefiting the people most in need.
