Cause Description:
We are dedicated and honored to serve the youth of Aurora and surrounding communities through our athletic programs. We are proudly known as The Aurora Youth League (AYL) Centaur Youth Sports Organization. The IRS will tell you they know us as a 501(c) 3 organization. ¬ We make a difference by providing a positive alternative in the lives of our youth by offering baseball, basketball, football and cheerleading within our organization. Our aspirations are to promote a positive lifestyle, athletic development, sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership and physical fitness which in return will teach and help develop a child’s self-esteem. Additionally, youth participating in our program have increased performance, discipline and focus more in school as well as at home. Even with our attempts to maintain low registration fees, every year we need to provide scholarships for several athletes. At AYL we refuse to leave any child behind, but we have families who struggle to pay the fees due to economic situations or have multiple children whom they want to participate. The cost of equipment, uniforms, officials, and field or facility use continue to rise which makes it very difficult to keep our costs low and affordable for our families. Our families are responsible for purchasing their athlete’s uniform and any safety equipment necessary. This fee can range from approximately $150 up to $175, depending on the sport played. Then there are the registration fees for each sport which average about $100. You can see how this can affect a hard working family trying to make ends meet. As an organization, we do everything we can to save money, like recycling applicable safety equipment as much as we can. But since safety is our number one goal, we make sure we have the safest equipment possible which means there are many times we have to replenish our equipment ourselves as we will not cut corners on keeping our kids safe. We also want to award our players by having a team banquet at the end of the season along with being able to provide a participation trophy. The AYL Centaur organization is run by parent volunteers and solely supported by the generous donations and/or sponsorships from friends and companies like yours, who partner with us to help the deserving youth fulfill their dreams and prepare them for their future.
