Campaign for Sustainable Economics c/o Indianapolis Peace and Justice Center

Indianapolis, Indiana

Cause Description:
Campaign for Sustainable Economics advocates for the integration of economics and ecology in the form of ecological economics. With this approach the global economy is a subsystem of the global economy, instead of the other way around. Three goals of ecological economics are the steady state economy, just distribution of resources, and efficient allocation of resources. As with all large economies this is a mixed economy (i.e., it is neither pure capitalism nor pure socialism). Permaculture and ecocities are two visionary approaches that could be compatible with ecological economics, so long as we get our ecological footprint within the Earth's carrying capacity, instead of using them to merely accomodate growth. After all the Earth is a finite and diminishing land mass.
