The fundamental belief of the Royal Dames of Cancer Research, Inc. is that man is not destined to die of cancer. The Royal Dames of Cancer Research, Inc. was founded in 1969 as a corporation organized exclusively to raise funds for the study and research of cancer at the Goodwin Institute for Cancer Research, Inc. in Broward County, Florida. Today's Royal Dames, a not–for–profit organization, continue their fundraising efforts to support the scientific research programs at the Rumbaugh–Goodwin Institute at Nova Southeastern University. Since its inception by this philanthropic group of ladies nearly 40 years ago, the Royal Dames have joined together with their friends and guests for the Tiara Ball, the fund–raising event of the year. This spectacular annual event is attended by community leaders throughout the tri–county area as one of the most elegant Balls of the season, resulting in an exciting and prosperous evening for the benefit of cancer research. The Royal Dames have raised millions of dollars to encourage, aid and enrich and support educational programs and cancer research at the Rumbaugh–Goodwin Institute for Cancer Research at Nova Southeastern University.
