Cause Description:
Chicago Noise Machine is a collaboration of 9 Chicago area bands, determined to create a more cohesive and accessible local music scene. Formed in late 2008, "CNM" started out as an attempt to open doors to the larger, more competitive venues in the city by combining the individual skill sets and resources of its members into an independent and artist-driven promotional unit. Through hard work and initiative, CNM members now focus on creating new opportunities for the local music scene both in venues, on the radio waves, and online. The founding 9 bands work tirelessly to build a foundation that will help support the local music scene for years to come. Based on vision, dedication and execution, this new model shows independent musicians everywhere that success is still possible in today’s music industry. After organizing the very successful CNM Launch Party at the Cubby Bear in November 2008, the members of CNM placed all revenue from the show back into the organization. Unanimously, they voted to put those funds towards a bigger, better follow-up performance that would continue to foster independent creativity in Chicago by promoting even more artists than just the current members of the group. Out of this came the idea for the I AM Fest; Chicago’s largest independent arts and music festival. The all-day festival will feature 25 local music acts, as well as visual work from local Chicago artists, and will take place at the historic Congress Theater on June 13, 2009. It is important to note that the members of CNM are dedicating countless hours to organize this event entirely independently; it is a project of passion for the organization born out of the belief that Chicago’s local music scene is filled with talent worthy of a bigger, more accessible place to perform. All of the marketing, planning, production, and business aspects of this huge undertaking are being tackled by CNM members and close associates. Chicago Noise Machine is looking forward to a huge success in June and, subsequently, to creating even more opportunities for motivated Chicago musicians and artists in the future.
