Cause Description:
Since 1971, Women In Transition has worked to empower women who are endangered by domestic violence and/or substance abuse to make positive changes in their lives, eliminate their vulnerability to oppressive and abusive relationships, and build lives for themselves and their children that are free of substance abuse and violence. Women in Transition also takes a leadership role in educating the community - from neighbors and friends, to the medical establishment, business leaders, the police, and elected officials - about the linkages between domestic violence, substance abuse, child abuse and community violence in an effort to establish a network that will promote safety and justice for vulnerable women and children.
