Wood-Heights Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Inc. was founded on April 15th, 2008 due to an obvious need for a community oriented ambulance service. Wood-Heights Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Inc. is comprised of a group of dedicated pre-hospital medical professionals who provide such service on a volunteer basis. Although, we are not a functioning volunteer ambulance service yet, we are arduously working to open. With the tireless efforts, dedication and support from the membership and the community, we will be able to accomplish this goal, so that we can provide this vital service to the community The objective of Wood-Heights Volunteer Ambulance Corps shall be to render Emergency Medical Care in a professional and courteous manner to all patients. It is also the goal of to provide community awareness of all current and emerging health threats that may impact the area served. WHVAC is committed to offering professional assistance to neighboring FDNY EMS battalions, FDNY Engine/Ladder companies, NYPD precincts and Dept. of Corrections correctional facilities. The purpose of Wood-Heights Volunteer Ambulance shall be to provide Emergency Medical Services, including transport to local hospitals, to anyone residing in, working in or visiting the aforementioned area.This ambulance corps will also be responsible for answering any and all direct requests for Emergency Medical Services from MARS or RCC (MCIs) or any agencies such as FDNY, NYPD, Dept. of Corrections and PAPD. This ambulance corps will also be responsible for answering any and all direct requests for Emergency Medical Services from individuals residing, working or visiting the aforementioned area (community calls.) WHVAC reserves the right to tier with other volunteer agencies when necessary. All members shall carry out the duties of EMT or AEMT-P professionally, and without any expectation of profit.
