The Alzheimer’s Association is the world leader in Alzheimer’s Disease research and support. Through a national network of advocates and chapters, it advances research, improves services and care, creates awareness of Alzheimer’s Disease and mobilizes support. The Michigan Great Lakes Chapter serves a 23-county region of Michigan with offices in Chelsea, Kalamazoo, Lansing, and Muskegon and serves an estimated 44,000 people with Alzheimer's disease. The association offers a wealth of community programs and services designed to meet the needs of those with Alzheimer’s, family members, care partners and the public, including 24/7 Helpline Information and Referral (800-272-3900), Support Groups, Care Consultations, Education Programs, Safe Return Programs, Advocacy and Research, Professional Training, Speakers Bureau, E- Newsletter, and Website. The Chapters hosts nine Memory Walks in September and October of each year. These walks are their national signature event and brings together family, friends, caregivers and concerned community members — who all want to make a difference. Since 1989, Memory Walk has raised more than $200 million to help those battling Alzheimer's disease.
