Cause Description:
HepCBC is a Canadian non-profit organization dedicated to the education and prevention of Hepatitis C. It also provides support to those who are directly and indirectly affected by Hepatitis C. HepCBC strives to educate the public by holding seminars and lectures on the different health issues surrounding Hepatitis C. It also participates in ribbon campaigns, benefit concerts and parades to help raise awareness. HepCBC also has several publications including a newsletter that is published every month called the hepc.bull. This newsletter includes information on new research available clinical trials, personal stories regarding living with HCV, educational articles, resource guides and much more. HepCBC has also created a "Frequently Asked Questions" booklet that is available in both English and French. It is a wonderful guide delving into various topics like treatment, research, symptoms, nutrition and hepatologists. HepCBC also provides personal support for many people with its 24- hour support line. The organization also lends personal support for those filing compensation applications which can be a frustrating process. HepCBC hopes to continue to expand its services eventually including a Hepatitis clinic, regular support groups and counseling.
