Cause Description:
The Vietnam Dog Handler Association was formed in 1993 and incorporated in the state of California on February 26, 1996, with the corporate number of A472274. On June 4, 1996 we received tax exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c) 19 (a) Military Veterans Association. Our IRS ID Number is 33-0690480. The VDHA is made-up of over 1,400 Vietnam Veterans, 90% of whom served as dog handlers, veterinarian technicians and veterinarians. We publish an 8-page, bi-monthly newsletter called DogMan. We have bi-annual reunions, the next will be in Washington D.C. Oct.13-15th 2000. We elect VDHA officers every two years. We also have representative Unit Directors from every unit that served in Vietnam. Active membership is open to those who served in a combat dog unit in: WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Desert Storm or Bosnia. Supporter status is open to others who are interested in the VDHA, however, supporters can not hold office, or vote on association issues.
