Cause Description:
Founded in 1997, the Community~Word Project (CWP) is a not-for-profit arts-in-education organization. It is CWP's mission to inspire New York City youth in underserved communities to read, interpret and respond to their world, and to become active citizens through collaborative arts residencies and teacher training programs. CWP transforms the residency classroom into a creative space where at-risk youth can gain the leadership skills and creative tools they need to make constructive change happen for themselves and their communities. To ensure that our students are receiving the best possible experience CWP runs an annual twenty-five week Teaching Artist Training and Internship Program.
