Cause Description:
United Animal Friends(UAF)is 100% volunteer so we have no salaries to pay. All our animals are kept in foster homes, so we have no shelter expenses. All donations and grant money go for spay/neuter, emergency medical, and similar things that directly benefit the animals in our care. We take animals from Animal Control and wherever else we find homeless animals. Since we are not limited by the size of a shelter we have a no kill policy. The only solution to the problem of homeless animals is spay/neuter. We have a low cost certificate program with local vets. We rehomed over 600 animals and altered over 1275 animals in 2006, and hope to do more each year. Programs of UAF include: 1- Animals Disaster Services(ADS) which creates shelters for animals evacuated during emergencies. 2- Foster/Adopt Field Services(FAFS) which fosters, spay/neuters, and adopts out homeless animals. 3- No More Homeless Pets, Yavapai County(NMHP) which is a five year plan of education, spay/neuter and adoption events with a goal of no more homeless pets by 2010. This includes a low-cost or free certificate program. 4-Feral Cat Trap/Neuter/ Release Program(TNR) which humanely traps feral cats. The cats are then altered and released where someone will feed them. 5-Courtesy Listing Program which helps animals whose people want to relinquish them to find new homes. 6-Emergency Medical Program which helps pay veterinary bills when the pet guardian cannot.
