Cause Description:
In 1986 a group of dedicated Thai and American Buddhists in Illinois, particularly in and around Chicago, decided to establish a center for the learning and practice of Buddha-dharma. The center would also serve as a base for the propagation activities of the religion, helping interested individuals to obtain better understanding in and assisting them in the practice of the Buddha's teaching. Although the Buddhadharma Meditation Center is rooted in the Theravada tradition, its outlook is ecumenical and it maintains a policy of creative cooperation with other Buddhist traditions and meaningful interaction with non-Buddhist organizations. The BMC cordially welcomes individuals, groups, and institutions interested in the Buddhist learnimg and practice.
