Cause Description:
CARD is a registered charity which has provided theraputic horseback riding for people with disabilties in the Greater Toronto Area for twenty-nine years. Approximately 185 people, sixty-five percent of them children or teenagers, the rest adults, receive therapy each week. They ride under the supervision of specially trained physiotherpists and instructors, aided by more than 300 dedicated volunteers. Our riders include people with cerebral palsy,stroke,spina bifida,multiple sclerosis, blindness,traumatic head injury and developmental challenges. They obtain numerous physical benefits such as balance, co-ordination,strength and muscle tone, as well as improved attention span, confidence and social skills. CARD obtains most of its funding from donations.
