Cause Description:
After the September 11 terrorist attacks on the United States, the US-Afghanistan Reconstruction Council (US-ARC) was founded by the Afghan-American community to assist in the reconstruction of a civil society in Afghanistan. It began as an advocacy organization to highlight the plight of the people of Afghanistan who for years had been suffering at the hands of the same terrorists. For almost six years, the Taliban and Al-Qaeda managed to nearly shut down Afghanistan and the grievances of Afghans failed to reach the international community. Since 2001, US-ARC has been working diligently to realize a vision of rebuilding viable, selfsustaining, healthy and educated societies in Afghanistan. Five years later, US-ARC is working in five provinces: Kabul, Kunduz, Herat, Parwan and Wardak. From Dairy Revitalization projects to the building of schools and Vocational Training Centers for women, US-ARC needs your support to continue and expand its' programs.
