Cause Description:
LAM Treatment Alliance, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization dedicated to finding a treatment for Lymphangioleiomyomatosis or LAM (a rare, fatal disease affecting women that can teach us about more common serious diseases like breast cancer, prostate cancer, melanoma, lung cancer and diabetes) in the fastest time possible by supporting an aggressively funded high-quality, high-impact international research strategy. We pursue this global goal by functioning as a convener, think tank and funder of scientists from around the world who already work on this disease and those who are leaders in fields relevant to finding an effective treatment for LAM in record time. Our grants program, our Harvard Medical School-based Seminar Series and bi-annual Summits advance and streamline ongoing recruitment, excellence and collaboration among researchers working on different aspects of the disease and potential therapies. We work with and on behalf of patients and their families to advance our ability to fundraise and build alliances with other strategic partners who can help us to stay lean even as we advance our core mission. Our approach that puts our work at the leading edge of science and has received recent press coverage in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, The Charlie Rose Show on PBS, and The Montel Williams Show.
