Cause Description:
The Child Center of NY (formerly Queens Child Guidance) Center is a 53 year-old community-based non-profit agency. Our mission is to help children and youth grow up to feel safe, secure and self-confident; be healthy; succeed in school (and later work) and to have the sensitivity to be effective citizens in the world community. Central to all of our programming is a belief in the promise of positive relationships for childrens progress and growth. We are effective because we treasure the individual capacities of children and help them flourish in their families, schools, communities and cultural environment. The hallmarks of our work are a commitment to the highest quality care and an ability to adapt and grow. We help children at every age and level of risk with a diverse staff who are 80% bilingual and/or bicultural and who, collectively, speak more than 30 languages. We serve in excess of 14,000 families a year.
