Cause Description:
Animal overpopulation in Puerto Rico constitutes a serious and extremely alarming problem. Over a million stray animals roam our island, and few people care about this situation. Animal abuse and abandoned animals are not a priority for our government, and the solution has become the responsibility of various animal rescue groups, who have taken on the hard task of helping stray animals, rescuing them, nursing them back to health and finding them a home. Fundación Satitopr.com was created for this purpose. We began operations on October 25, 2001, actively rescuing abandoned animals and finding new homes for them in Puerto Rico or in the United States. At present, Satitopr.com does not receive any state, municipal or federal agencies funds. It is solely supported by donations generously given by people whose hearts are touched by the precarious situation our animals in Puerto Rico live.
