Cause Description:
Save the Chimps (STC), the largest chimpanzee sanctuary in the world, provides compassionate and comprehensive care within enriched environments to 287 chimpanzees rescued from invasive research and other forms of exploitation. STC currently cares for these chimpanzees at two separate locations; a temporary sanctuary within a former biomedical research lab located in Alamogordo, New Mexico, and at one of the most sophisticated and chimpanzee-centric sanctuaries in the world located in Fort Pierce, Florida. The Fort Pierce sanctuary, designed by Save The Chimps founder Dr. Carole Noon, not only provides dignified and enriching living space for chimpanzees, but also uses innovative design to provide staff with the ability to safely respond to the diverse physical and emotional needs of a large population of chimpanzees  many of whom are emotionally and/or physically compromised after decades of exploitation.
