Cause Description:
Through sustainable water, sanitation, and reforestation projects, El Porvenir works to improve the standard of living of poor people in rural Nicaragua. In 20 years, El Porvenir has completed over 700 projects and planted over 250,000 trees! El Porvenir’s goals are to improve the health of poor people, to reduce infant mortality, to lessen the physical burden on women and children of carrying water, to support self-help, community- initiated efforts in rural villages, to transfer to the villagers skills which they can use to improve their lives, and to preserve the watersheds on which the water projects depend.
