Jon Sims Center for the Performing Arts (JSC) is a multidisciplinary performing arts presenter and service organization offering programs that address the artistic, intellectual and community social needs of the lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender (LGBT) communities of the Bay Area. JSC ensures access to the creative process and asserts that creative activity and its product have equal value, that all talent is worthy of development, and that artistic expression is essential to our communities’ health. JSC’s aim is to move queer art making from the margins to a position of central influence in cultural production. JSC is committed to generating new art works in multiple disciplines while providing extensive public visibility for traditionally marginalized artists and art practices. Increasingly, JSC is a locus of creative and cultural dialogue, bringing diverse segments of the LGBT community together for active exchange and change.
