Cause Description:
Community Connections for Youth is made up of community members from various walks of life working together to influence the positive development of Woodstock’s youth. Researchers have identified 40 developmental assets (positive building blocks) that young people need to navigate successfully through childhood and adolescence. Developmental Assets can be both external (things that other people provide for youth) and internal (things that develop within young people themselves). Youth with a greater number of assets are less likely to engage in risky behaviors (such as substance abuse, violence, sexual activity, and crime), than youth with fewer assets.
