Cause Description:
Oklahoma Alliance for Animals (OAA), is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization that works toward the day when no healthy, adoptable companion animal will be euthanized merely because it does not have a home. Each year nearly 15,000 homeless animals enter the City of Tulsa Animal Shelter; about 2,400 of those find their way into loving homes - the rest are not so lucky. Primary to its mission, OAA works cooperatively with the City of Tulsa to develop creative strategies to address pet over population in our community. The OAA hosts several pet adoption and low-cost spay/neuter events throughout the year and provides educational opportunities for the public. The Alliance places adoptable homeless pets into loving homes, develops partnerships with animal rescue organizations and veterinarians, and serves as liaison between the office of the Mayor of Tulsa and area rescue organizations. The OAA also strives to generate public awareness and create interest in the pet overpopulation issue.
