Cause Description:
In 1978, Kermit the Frog, accompanied by his creator, Jim Henson, cut the ribbon to officially open the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta. Founded by Vincent Anthony, the Center is the largest organization in the United States dedicated to the art form of puppetry. The Center’s mission is to entertain and enlighten audiences, nurture the world community of artists, expand the puppetry art form, and explore the past, present, and future of puppetry. The Center accomplishes this mission by using puppetry to serve and educate the community. The Center has nearly 300,000 admissions in a typical year and offers programming in three areas: performance, museum, and education. All programs for school-age children are designed to meet the state or national curriculum standards by using puppetry to enhance classroom learning in a unique way.
