Cause Description:
Since its founding in 1988, Adoption Network Cleveland has served members of the adoption triad (adoptees, adoptive parents and birthparents), professionals and the community through its programs, search support, community and media outreach, advocacy for access to information for persons affected by adoption in Ohio, coalition-building with other adoption agencies and organizations, and training of professionals in the field of adoption. In addition to maintaining these core services, at the end of 2003 the Community Vision Council chose Adoption Network Cleveland to be the lead agency for Adopt Cuyahoga's Kids, a groundbreaking initiative that moves our community towards a future where every child lives in a permanent, nurturing family environment. Before Adopt Cuyahoga's Kids, there were 656 children and teens in Cuyahoga County with little or no hope of living in a permanent family. The goal set for the entire three years of the Initiative was that 164 of these youth would be adopted. We exceeded this goal in less than 18 months by placing 192 children and teens in adoptive homes by June 2005!
