Cause Description:
The ARK, a not-for-profit social service agency on Chicago's North Side, has been caring for the needy since 1971. With the help of a corps of over 300 dedicated volunteers, The ARK today offers a comprehensive array of services - free of charge - to nearly 10,000 men, women and children throughout Chicagoland. The ARK's mission is to provide quality medical and social services to the needy. These services are available to any person without regard to race, color, creed, gender or country of national origin. The ARK's broad range of services includes a health center complete with medical, dental and eye clinics, a pharmacy and a dental lab. Counseling and psychological support and evaluations are provided through a comprehensive mental health services program. Legal aid and direct financial aid are available. The ARK's food pantry distributes packages to over 2,400 hungry people each month. Housing is provided for the homeless.
