The Caregiver Emergency Respite Fund, Inc. (CERF), an Indiana 501-C-3 Not-For-Profit Public Charity, exists to end the crisis family caregivers are experiencing by providing emergency respite funding and education programs to help families regain balance between home, caregiving, and work. A caregiver is anyone who provides regular assistance to another person who is ill, has a disability or needs help in the daily tasks of life. Caregivers find themselves in this role after a care recipient’s hospitalization or caring for an elderly parent or relative. Caregiving knows no boundaries; it is the common denominator to every health condition on earth. Respite is a temporary break in caregiving duties.
