Cause Description:
Founded in 1912 and incorporated on October 28, 1916, The Humewood House Association is a non-profit charitable organization that services young pregnant and parenting women, age 13 to 21. Our mission is: “Humewood House is committed to enabling young women and their families to improve their life circumstances and achieve independence through the provision of education, counselling and residential and non-residential services.” Clients may come to live at Humewood House at any time during their pregnancy and stay, after delivery, for up to six months with their child. Programs are offered to clients living in the residence and young women across the city of Toronto. The range of services offered by Humewood are: - A secondary school facility with courses for up to 24 clients - Computer training and employment readiness courses - A 10-bed licensed infant daycare centre - Parenting, nutrition and life-skills training - Assistance and advocacy with housing, Social Assistance and Children’s Aid - Individual and family counselling - A Volunteer Mentoring Program
