Cause Description:
Stable-Spirit is an altruistic organization committed to making a contribution to the betterment of mankind with the assistance of horses. There are three programs at Stable-Spirit. In the Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) program, an equine specialist and success coach, or licensed therapist, involve horses in experiential ground activities to provide immediate honest, nonjudgmental feedback to participants. The result is improved communication, assertiveness, responsibility, problem solving, anger management, self-esteem, respect for others, team building, relationship skills and more. The second program at Stable-Spirit is Hippotherapy. In this program, Stable-Spirit partners with a local pediatric therapy company, Kids Therapy, that provides physical, speech, and occupational therapy. Kids Therapy clients ride the horse while doing their physical, speech, and occupational therapy with their therapist. Stable-Spirit provides the horse, horse handler, and side walker for these sessions. Clients reach their goals up to 65% faster when equine therapy is added to their traditional therapy. Therapeutic Riding is the third program offered at Stable-Spirit. In this program those with disabilities are taught to groom, tack and ride the horse. This helps with enhanced core muscle strength, improved flexibility, increased self-esteem, advanced social skills, and improved balance. Stable-Spirit's mission is to provide the community with opportunities that promote positive mental, emotional, and physical health through professionally guided interaction with horses.
