Cause Description:
The Adoption Exchange was created in 1983 by concerned social workers and child advocates. These founding visionaries recognized the need to link children in the foster care system because of abuse, neglect or abandonment to permanent adoptive families who would provide stable, safe, loving homes. The Adoption Exchange is a respected 501(c)(3) child welfare organization that maintains a national training presence, while connecting children with permanent homes in eight member states: Colorado, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming. Mission: The Adoption Exchange provides the connection between children who wait in the foster care system and families who adopt. The Adoption Exchange recruits families for children who have survived abuse and neglect, provides training and knowledge to permanency planning professionals, and provides information and follow-up support to adoptive families. Vision: The Adoption Exchange envisions a world in which all children are valued and grow up in safe and permanent families, and where families are supported in their critical roles.
