Cause Description:
Journey's End is a registered nonprofit. Florence Thuot opened her home, in 1974, to over 200 domestic animals-dogs, cats, horses and a pot-bellied pig. We are unlike traditional shelters, as we take in those unfortunates that have been abused, neglected, have special needs or are in their later years. Many of these animals would have been euthanized, but here at J.E. we work with several veternarians and offer them long term care and love. They are not caged. The dogs are free to roam in different fenced areas. The cats are presently inside, as we are undertaking a very large project of redoing the cat house. We are constructing a tack room, a screened in front porch, a large specially fenced outdoor recreational area for them. We are all volunteers, and are not paid. We depend upon individual and business donations. We have MANY expenses, such as medicines, food (over $600 a month just on canned cat food) and repairs/renovations.
