Cause Description:
AFYF has developed a continuum of care model to provide programs for seriously disturbed children and adolescents. These unique programs include Residential Crisis, Therapeutic Group Home, Treatment Foster Care, Independent Living, and Psychiatric Rehabilitation. In addition, AFYF has a stand-alone program called LINKS for Youth. The Crisis program provides 24 hour a day emergency intervention for youth who may otherwise be placed in hospitals, institutions or group shelters. Our Therapeutic Group Home is a six bed home for boys ages 12-17. The program provides comprehensive clinical and residential services to boys who are experiencing moderate to severe behavioral and emotional problems at home, in school or elsewhere in the community. Treatment Foster Care is a structured community based therapeutic foster care program that offers a comprehensive array of services including individual and family therapy, education and vocational advocacy plus recreational experiences designed to promote personal growth and responsibility. When reunification with family is impossible the Independent Living Program works with youth who are transitioning from adolescence to adulthood. The goal of Independent Living is to empower young adults to develop confidence, self-reliance, social skills and other basic life skills. The Psychiatric Rehabilitation program is designed to promote positive development of a youth’s behavior, social skills and family relationships. Our LINKS for Youth program is designed to provide families access to the full range of mental health and support services available in the community to meet the needs of their child or adolescent.
